My Ideal TV Husbands

So I have read two variations of this on two other blogs, MarinaSleeps and RachaelJames and I felt I needed to write this down. This is likely something you kids will not be interested in but it has consumed my thoughts after I read it.

Basically both blogger made a list of their celebrity crushes or more specifically their TV star dream husbands. I stuck strictly to TV and tried to create a similar rational for the scoring.

Ted from How I Met Your Mother

Lets face it the entire show is about telling his kids how he met “me.” To be honest part of the premise of the show is partial inspiration for this blog. Ted can be a bit of a perfectionist expecting to find the perfect woman and changing himself to be perfect for her but not being happy. The romantic side of me loves the idea of husband who has this romantic and makes his kids listen to all the stories he has about finding the one.

Zack from Saved By The Bell

Zack  has to be on this list if one were to marry a high school sweetheart. What can I say I was in love with Zack. He was awesome, he was everything I wanted a high school boyfriend to be he was cute, popular, and funny. Intelligence in it classical sense did not interest me at the time, he had street smarts and I respected that. I was not the best student in high school just like Zack but he made up for it in personality (more than I possessed in high school that is for sure). He always seemed to come out a winner in the end and who can argue with that.

Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) from Arrested Development

He is kind of a “if I married a blind date” category because I did not see every episode of this short-lived show but the few I remember I LOVED his character. I am also assuming that since he is kind of type cast the many other similar looking things I have seen him in can make me say this character “could be the one.” His biggest downside is his family, talk about in-laws!!!

The Professor from Gilligan’s Island

Ok so he is older and a total geek, I really do like worthless facts and the fun scientific side. He can make a phone out of a coconut, that is awesome (and it appeals to my inner environmentalist). I am 100% sure all the things he can tinker with and make will keep me entertained for a lifetime. I only hope he can get over spending time on the island with Ginger and Marianne… I am not sure I can compete with them!

Chandler from Friends

I was always a Chandler fan, even when everyone loved Ross (during the Ross and Rachel days, before “the break”). He is funny but also willing to laugh at himself. He does not take things to seriously, which is a good balance for me because I do kinda take things seriously. He is a goofy romantic however it does concern me that he does not cry at all. He likes animals too, he has pet duck and goose (and a goldfish, although that was his roommates). There is just something so fun and quirky about him that is undeniable.

Dr.  Doug Ross from ER

What list would be complete without George Clooney! He may have played a version of his-real-life-self and this may be the most reckless choice of a husband one can put on the list (I mean the first episode of the show his ex girlfriend tries to commit suicide) but there is a genuine spirit in his character that cannot be denied. He is a pediatrician but a player, he is very committed to what is right for his patients but he is player, he stands up for what he believes in but he is player. Ultimately he grows up and I want to marry the Dr. Ross from his last episode not the ones before it, I need the mature character. He also seems like a genuinely fun guy!

Jim from the Office

Jim is the most real life guy on TV. He is also the most like your Dad, I imagine your Dad is alot like Jim at work (hopefully not flirting at the receptionist). I really like the Jim’s humor and personality but I could not work with him (just like I could not work with your Dad) the pranks would make me nervous! The pranks that Jim plays on Dwight are so fun and I would love to joke around like that.  Those quirky little faces he makes would make me smile alot too.

Vincent from Entourage ( that is going to be my maternity leave Netflix thing, I have watched ALOT of episode randomly and LOVE the show but have not watched faithfully)

Since I have a huge thing for Hollywood and the idea of movie star life (I would much rather be a movie star than a rock star, your Dad, by the way, is the opposite, he would love to be a rock star) I have to have Vincent on this list. The biggest down fall of a relationship with him is all his buddies being around all the time. But as Dave Chappelle would say he is “keeping it real” by staying with his friends from before he was a star and I have to respect that.

Jack Shepard From Lost

It is fair to say that one of my all-time favorite tv shows was Lost. The character development in that show was unmatched by any other show so it is easy for me to say that my top choice for a tv character husband is Jack. I totally know what I am getting with him. He would work to protect me, he would love me forever even if that love tore him apart in being able to live. He was actually a good Dad in the little bit we saw that side of him. He has his flaws but so does everyone, he gets a little too consumed in what he thinks he has to do and has a hard time admitting he wrong and he’s wrong alot. The God complex thing is tough but one that alot of doctors can have so I have to go with it. Overall his conviction is quiet endearing when you look at it on the whole (and let me tell you that is a good perspective to have in marriage, look at in it whole view not the few annoying things that can happen) he would be a pretty great husband.

Honorable Mentions

Boone from Lost

We did not get to know him to well but I could look into those eyes the rest of my life, he was a very trusting person, wanted to help all the time even when he did not know what in the world he was doing, he had a blind courage that kept us from getting to know him (spoiler alert!) and he has the MOST amazing eyes I have ever seen (not sure if I mentioned that)!

X-Factor: 8 (he went off with Locke in the woods right away he has alot of courage!)

My Real Life Husband

So Daddy is better than all these guys. He has the fun, joking ways of Jim, the romantic ideas like Ted, eyes like Boone, and I know his even better than we got to know Jack. Without a doubt if your Dad was a TV character I would have the biggest crush on him!

Glad my blog helped inspire you to make your own! Excellent list! Had I expanded my list Chandler, Michael Bluth and Zack Morris might have made it as well.

LOVE the scoring system! I might need to try this myself. I’m chiming in for Jack from Lost and the Professor. I’m not sure what that says about me…

  4. I love Jack and LOST a lot!
